The new DVD Lift Ticket to Norway takes us for a 3 weeks journey across Norway, a travel around the theme of RC gliders. The trip starts in Stavanger, in the south of Norway, place of living of Espen Torp, the local guy, and organizer of the travel. Other crew members are Dave Reese, the producer, and Bob Bingham and his wife Darcy.

Norway is a Nordic country in Northern Europe occupying the western portion of the Scandinavian Peninsula, and has Oslo as Capital city. Norway has a border with Sweden, Finland and Russia. Norway's extensive coastline (2500 km), facing the North Atlantic Ocean and the Barents Sea, is the home of famous fjords and numerous small islands (around 50 000 total). The highest summit is the Galdhøpiggen which is at 2 469 meters. With a population of about 4.8 million people, and a total area of 385,252 square kilometers, Norway is one of the most sparsely populated countries in Europe.

This country is a place with an absolute wild beauty, and the DVD is allowing us to discover it through flying sessions in unexpected but superbs places, and requesting a perfect level of piloting.

Filmed in summer, time of the year when the sun never completely descends beneath the horizon creating a special atmosphere, the movie breath the nature and reminded me my stay in Iceland in 1996, because of the beauty and wildness of the landscapes. The lack of wind during this stay in Norway conducted to surprising flights like a motor glider flying over the mirror surface of a mountain lake, or the flight (diving) from the top of a cliff, the pilot standing at the bottom, several hundred meters under, and having only one landing approach attempt. Bod even succeeded to catch the plane in the hand !

From driving to visits, the LTNO crew is going north to finally reach the island of Værøy, the final goal of the expedition. This island offers a breathless and dizzy slopes. We really have the feeling to be at the end of the world, the light has something special and magic. We try to imagine how people lives here in winter.

In conclusion this DVD is an invitation to travel in order to discover this beautiful country, home of the trolls (Scandinavian legend). You watch it in one time, with its air and mesmerizing music, the fusion between Water, ground, mountains, the sound of the torrents and waterfalls.
